Cohousing: international experience of shared living in a period of history rocked by profound economic changes that involve multiple social ambits and involve numerous discipline areas, in Architecture is observed the development of housing models often simplistically called “cohousing”. In the author’s discussion, this form of sharing spaces, functions and time (typical of their original model) proves to have very specific characteristics, not always and not entirely comparable to other forms of housing mistakenly associated to it. Numerous examples described through drawings and photographs, evidence the evolution and the architectural and functional specificity of cohousing. Some further analyzed housing modes provide the reader a tool for understanding a highly topical phenomenon – the shared living -, allowing a glimpse of its possible future developments.
