The María José Jove Foundation publishes the monographic edition of the artist June Crespo (Pamplona, 1982). The monograph, which reviews the artist’s career from her beginnings to the present, contains texts by Chus Martínez, curator and researcher and director of the Art Institute of the Academy of Art and Design in Basel, and an extensive conversation between June Crespo and Susana González, curator, cultural manager and director of the Art Collection of the María José Jove Foundation. June Crespo’s artistic practice is largely identified with sculpture, where she develops a language based on procedures such as collage or assembly and on the experimental use of images. The starting point of her work are those bonds of an affective and dialectical type that are established between forms and functional objects that challenge her from her closest environment. Intuition will be the trigger to digest interests and concerns of different kinds, without these being explicitly or premeditated in the initial conception of the work. Their language, which refers to the body and its relational capacity, interferes in the way of reading objects, releasing their associative potential, in a process that involves establishing a series of relationships that range from the combination, reconfiguration or ordering of the different parts to the incorporation of procedural contingencies, such as fragment, breakage, imperfection or footprint.
